What Jobs Are Available in Croatia?

Given its location on the coast and the fact that tourism services have developed in recent years (after a decline in the 1990s), tourism is one of the main areas of economic activity. The hotel and restaurant industry also has its share of this sector. The latter in particular employs a large number of foreigners. The following professions are listed below:

  • managers
  • Waiters
  • BARMEN
  • COOKS
  • Animator
  • maids.

Besides these fields, jobs in manufacturing can also be found in Croatia. Shipbuilding, mechanical engineering, food, textile and woodworking industries are particularly developed. In factories and plants there are always the following types of jobs:

  • Engineer;
  • Technicians;
  • Engineers; technicians; craftsmen.

Occupations less related to intellectual labor include construction workers, drivers (truck drivers), nannies and nurses. These are occupations for women and there is a stronger gender representation in more complex jobs. In Croatia there are also vacancies that can be designed for couples - work in production, in gardens or on farms. It is never done without an offer for a highly qualified professional, whether a local or an immigrant, which is always appreciated. These include:

  • IT specialists
  • Architects
  • Teachers
  • Scientists.

However, if the first listed professions often fall into the category of seasonal work in Croatia, graduates will move to the country for an extended period of time.

Wage levels

Wage levels in Croatia depend not only on the direction of activity, but also on the region and each individual employer. The average wage for an employee is about 660 EUR (or 5,000 Croatian kuna). The highest paid professions are managers, programmers and lawyers. They can earn up to EUR 2,000 per month. Economists and marketers earn slightly less, up to EUR 1,700. Restaurant and hotel workers can earn up to €1,000 per season. Teachers and health workers are paid slightly less - around 800-900 euros. Builders and truck drivers can earn around €700. But nannies, maids and mechanics earn an average of €600. It also largely depends on the organization where the professional works. For example, an economist in an international company will earn more than the same professional in a small private company.
