The choice of specialization is the most important and responsible task for an applicant. Because this choice determines one's future, career opportunities, demand on the European labor market and economic vitality. But the main condition for a successful choice is to ensure that the future profession is not only popular, but also one that really interests the student and can become his or her life's favorite. Of course, you can change your specialty if you wish, but if you make a balanced and carefully thought-out choice at the beginning, you will avoid many problems and not lose precious time and effort.

Depending on which area the student is particularly strong in - math, history, biology, creative fields, etc. - he or she can choose a promising profession that will undoubtedly be popular in the next 10-15 years. Research the curriculum and listen to your voice to maximize your potential and get a European Diploma at a Slovak university.

Technical specialization

Statistics clearly show that the modern market has the most urgent need for technical specialists. The most in-demand professions in Slovakia and other EU countries are software developers, data scientists and mechanical engineers. According to many surveys and statistics, one of the most sought-after professions today (and in the coming years) is financial consulting. With a degree in finance, economics or banking and credit, you can not only work in a European company or bank, but also start a successful private practice. Of course, knowledge of a foreign language is a prerequisite. Both large companies and representatives of small and medium-sized businesses in European countries are interested in competent financial advisors today.

When it comes to remuneration, it is even difficult to set limits, as salaries vary depending on the country, the size of the company and the level of competence of the professional. However, an annual salary of around €40,000 for a financial advisor can be considered average.

Medical specialties

There is no doubt that medical education in Europe is highly respected and the demand for qualified medical professionals is increasing year by year. Medical specialties that can be pursued in Slovakia include a wide range of options such as nursing, obstetrics, dentistry and radiology.

Future doctors study at the National University of Health in Bratislava, Comenius University, St. Elisabeth University of Health and Social Work, Catholic University in Ružumberok, universities in Prešov and Trnava, and Paveljosef Šafarík in Košice.

Slovak universities provide the appropriate level of training for healthcare professionals, taking care to develop practical skills. From the first courses of many universities, students have the opportunity to be exposed to the realities of health care in the country's clinics and various research centers.

Today, anesthesiologists, general practitioners, family doctors, psychiatrists and pediatricians, as well as neurologists, radiologists and surgeons, are among the most in-demand and best-paid health professionals in most European countries.

General practitioners in these specialties typically earn around €3,000-3,200 per month for a 40-hour working week, even at the start of their careers.

Today, in addition to the growing need for accredited doctors, there is also a sharper market need for mid-career and junior healthcare workers. This shortage has led to higher salaries and it is not unusual for nurses to earn as much as (or more than) highly specialized doctors, for example in EU countries such as Denmark and Italy.
